CHRISTMAS TREES

During the weeks immediately following the holidays, a special collection of Christmas trees occurs for customers in the participating Townships of College, Ferguson, Harris, and Patton.  The Christmas tree collection for 2009 will be held the week of January 5 - 9, 2009.  Trees may be placed at the curb to be collected.  Collection may not necessarily occur on your regular refuse collection day.  Remove all lights and decorations from trees.  Please do not place the trees in bags.  Avoid placing trees curbside if it may snow before trees are collected.  Announcements for collection dates and times will be posted in the Centre Daily Times and on television community bulletin board services.

This service is provided at no additional cost.

In 2008, the trees went to the Scotia Gamelands to be used as small animal habitat.  In other years, trees that are collected have been chipped into mulch, which is recycled by being applied as groundcover in landscaping applications.
