Q: They missed my trash. What should I
do?
A: Before picking up the telephone, try to answer the
following questions:
Was the trash out by 7:00 a.m. on
your collection day?
Was the trash placed in bags or trash
cans?
Did each container weigh less than 40
pounds?
Is your account up to date?
Is collection following a regular
schedule this week? (no holiday delays)
Was the container free of leaves and grass clippings?
If you answered YES to all of the above questions, then it is possible
that the driver may have made a mistake. The next step is to call
VEOLIA Environmental Services at (814) 237-3713 by 12:00 noon the next
day to report the missed stop. A driver will return to the property and
remove the trash, generally within one business day.
Q: Do I have to participate in the Regional
Refuse and Recycling Program?
A:
YES - all single residential properties in
College, Ferguson, Harris, and Patton Townships must participate in the
Program, per municipal ordinances which require refuse and recycling
collections by an exclusive hauler under contract with the Centre Region
COG. Participation also includes timely payment of services rendered to
the
local hauler,
Veolia .

TRANSPORTING REFUSE AND RECYCLABLE MATERIALS FROM A RESIDENCE TO
ANOTHER RESIDENCE, COMMERCIAL OPERATION, OR DUMPSTER WITHIN OR OUTSIDE
OF THE CENTRE REGION, IN ORDER TO AVOID PAYMENT OF SERVICES TO THE
CONTRACTED HAULER, IS ILLEGAL.
Residents of State
College Borough are not participants in the Program, and should
contact the
Department of Public Works at (814) 234-7140 for more information
regarding refuse and recycling collections in the Borough.
Q: I have a computer, television, monitor,
etc. to dispose of. What should I do?
A: You have
several options, and the best news is that one of the easiest is now
free to all Centre County residents. The Centre County Solid Waste
Authority (CCSWA) is pleased to announce that all Electronics/Computers
will be accepted on a continual basis at no charge to all Centre County
residents. Electronics materials can be dropped off at their facility
at any time during normal business hours. For more information,
